PART 1: NEW BRIDAL FASHION TRENDS FROM NEW YORK BRIDAL FASHION WEEK

For brides currently shopping for wedding dresses and wondering what bridal fashion trends are actually worth paying attention to, New York Bridal Fashion Week always gives us a glimpse into what modern brides will soon start seeing in bridal boutiques around the world.  As a bridal stylist who works closely with brides and top bridal designers, I love helping brides interpret runway trends in a way that still feels timeless, wearable, and true to their personal style.

In this first part of a two part series, we are highlighting three of the biggest Spring and Summer 2027 wedding dress trends from NYBFW, including bold florals, subtle color, and romantic ruffles that are already making their way into bridal shops.

For this exciting Fashion Week season, there was a beautiful return to femininity, romance, texture, and movement, but with modern updates that feel fresh instead of overly trendy. From dramatic floral applique to soft color and fun ruffles, the bridal industry is embracing fashion-forward bridal looks that still feel deeply bridal.

Trend #1: Large Scale Floral Wedding Dresses

Large scale floral wedding dresses are having a major moment for Spring Summer 2027 with bolder and far more dimensional designs.

Instead of delicate, barely-there floral details, designers are embracing bold floral patterns, oversized appliques, and textured blooms that feel dimensional and eye-catching. These floral wedding dresses create movement and visual interest, especially on fuller skirts and layered tulle silhouettes. 

What I love most about this trend is that it feels romantic while still making a statement. These are not delicate floral details that will disappear in photographs. Instead, these wedding dresses feel artistic, fashion-forward and incredibly memorable.

As a bridal stylist, I especially love this trend for brides planning garden weddings, destination weddings, tented celebrations, or romantic spring and summer weddings.

This bridal fashion trend is particularly exciting because designers interpreted it in completely different ways. We are seeing floral wedding dresses that range from soft and ethereal to dramatic and statement-making, which means there is something for every type of bride.

Trend #2:  Touch of Color in Wedding Dresses

One of this bridal fashion season’s most elegant trends was the introduction of subtle color woven into bridal gowns. Choosing a gown with color is a such a beautiful way to personalize your bridal look. 

The bridal designers introduced soft pastels, subtle blush tones, and even hints of blue woven into wedding dress fabrics, embroidery, and layering. 

These color details are not overwhelming by any means. Instead, they feel delicate and intentional, adding depth without taking away from the classic bridal feel.

As a stylist, brides who tell me they want something “a little different” but still timeless, this trend is often the perfect solution. A blush underlay, pale blue floral embroidery, or soft tonal layering can completely transform how a gown feels without making it feel costume-like or overly trendy.

I also love how beautifully this trend translates into wedding photography. Soft color creates dimension in movement and texture, especially in natural light. It gives wedding dresses a dreamy, romantic quality that feels incredibly modern yet still enduring.

Trend #3: Ruffles in Wedding Dresses

Ruffles have returned to the bridal runway in one of the most wearable ways I have seen in years. Rather than feeling heavy or overly dramatic, this season’s ruffles felt airy, soft, layered, and full of movement.

Designers incorporated ruffles into cascading skirts, sleeves, trains, and bodices to create texture and fluidity throughout the gown. Ruffles add dimension and softness to a bridal gown, making them a beautiful choice for brides who want a romantic, feminine look.

What I personally love about ruffles is how much life and movement they bring to a wedding dress. When a bride walks, dances, or moves naturally throughout the wedding day, the gown almost comes alive in photographs and video.

This trend works especially well for brides who want a softer, more romantic bridal aesthetic. Depending on the styling, ruffles on your bridal gown can feel whimsical, couture, editorial, or even subtly vintaged inspired.

As a bridal stylist, one thing I always consider with ruffles is proportion and balance. The right placement and scale of ruffles can beautifully enhance a bride’s figure and overall silhouette. It is less about the trend itself and more about finding the interpretation of the trend that flatters each bride individually.
