What began as a grand, Gatsby-inspired celebration at The Biltmore Estate transformed into an equally breathtaking black-tie wedding at The Dunlin in Charleston, South Carloina after an unexpected storm required a full re-plan in just three weeks.
With the expert leadership of Ashley Douglass Events and an incredible wedding vendor team, this wedding pivot became a masterclass in grace under pressure. Beth Chapman Styling was honored to provide on-site wedding dressing services for the bride, her family, and the bridal party. As bridal stylists, we ensured every fashion moment for this wedding felt calm, polished, and beautifully executed despite the whirlwind of change.
A Sophisticated Bride in Oscar de la Renta
Rebekah selected her Oscar de la Renta lace halter wedding gown on her own, originally envisioning it for the grandeur of The Biltmore. Featuring intricate lace detailing and a dramatic tulle bow accent, the gown balanced timeless elegance with modern sophistication.
Though their wedding venue changed, her bridal gown remained absolutely perfect. Against the marsh views and refined barn setting of The Dunlin, the lace silhouette on her wedding dress felt romantic, architectural, and appropriate for the Charleston landscape.
As bridal stylists providing wedding dressing services, our role was to ensure her bridal gown fit flawlessly, moved beautifully, and photographed impeccably throughout the day. From steaming and precise adjustments to final veil placement, our team was there for each moment.
A Meaningful Jewelry Moment
One of the most touching details of the weekend was a gift from the groom’s parents. They purchased stunning emerald cut emerald earrings for Rebekah, which I curated through Verstolo jewelers. The earrings were luxurious and perfectly fit the black tie celebration.
It is always such a privilege to help curate meaningful heirloom-quality pieces that become part of the bride’s wedding story.
Styling the Mother of the Groom
In addition to our wedding dressing services, I had the honor of styling the mother of the groom for the entire wedding weekend. She came to me wanting to feel comfortable yet glamorous for her son’s wedding.
As a petite woman, she had struggled to find a mother of the occasion dress that fit beautifully and made her feel confident, so we decided to create something custom.
I worked with designer Lara Knight to create a sophisticated stretch satin gown in rich black, her favorite color. The fabric choice ensured comfort while maintaining a structured design that radiated elegance for the formal celebration.
A Seamless Charleston Celebration
Though the setting changed from the historic Biltmore Estate to The Dunlin on John’s Island in South Carolina, the aesthetic remained refined and back tie. The ceremony was beautifully framed under a wooden chuppah with lush florals and candlelight. The wedding reception space glowed with soft white blooms, layered linens, and romantic candlelit tablescapes.
Throughout the wedding weekend, our team provided full wedding dressing services for the bride, her family, and the bridal party. From managing wardrobe logistics and perfecting fit to handling last-minute fixes and ensuring a calm dressing environment, we were present for it all.
This weekend was proof that a great team of trusted professionals can take any situation life throws their way and create a seamless, beautiful celebration.
